Ok, now this is very cool. Courtesy of Bharat Suneja of the MS Exchange team this article walks you through the steps of adding photos to your GAL.

The process is broken down into three steps:

  1. A minor schema change
  2. Loading the picture into Active Directory
  3. Updating the Offline Address Book

It will work with Exchange 2007 so long as you have a 2008 R2 DC or have extended the schema using the 2008 R2 forest/domain prep tool.

Hi, Our problem is that the contact pictures are only appearing when cached mode is enabled. I have been round and round now and getting nowhere. Can anyone help? Thanks.

We have a free product available on our website that makes this process very easy. http://www.exclaimer.com/products/outlook-photos/

What if we have all our photos stored on a network share. How can I point the GAL to automatically look at that share as the source for the photos, instead of needing to manually manage these pics?
