Lync Dialing Rule Optimizer

February 8, 2011

in Lync, Microsoft

Companies that have a number of offices spread across a wide geographical area often wish to leverage something called Least Cost Routing to reduce their telephony costs.  Least Cost Routing is the process of selecting the cheapest telephony route for a given call.

Ken Lasko has created a web-based tool called the Dialing Rule Optimizer that does almost everything you need to implement Least Cost Routing in your Lync deployment.  This program will get North American local dialing numbers for a given area code (NPA) and exchange (NXX) and format it for various IP telephony gateways for use with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and Lync Server 2010.

Thanks Ken for you hard work.
