Update Rollup for Exchange 2007 SP1

Overview

Update Rollup 1 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) resolves issues that were found in Exchange Server 2007 SP1 since the software was released. This update rollup is highly recommended for all Exchange Server 2007 SP1 customers.

Get-StorageGroupCopyStatus doesn’t work on Exchange 2007 SP1

Issue

You have deployed Exchange 2007 with CCR in your environment.   You upgrade your Exchange 2007 platform to SP1 and now when you run the Get-StorageGroupCopyStatus command you get an RPC error.

Get-StorageGroupCopyStatus : Microsoft Exchange Replication service RPC failed: Microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.RpcException: Error e0434f4d from cli_GetCopyStatusEx  at Microsoft.Exchange.Rpc.Cluster.ReplayRpcClient.GetCopyStatusEx(Guid[] sgGuids, RpcStorageGroupCopyStatus[]& sgStatuses)
atMicrosoft.Exchange.Cluster.Replay.ReplayRpcClientWrapper.

Resolution

Add the -standbymachine parameter to your command:

  • Get-StorageGroupCopyStatus -standbymachine <computername>

This new release provides support for Exchange Server 2007 SP1 and Windows Server 2008, as well as content filtering and manageability enhancements. These enhancements include:

  • Seamless support for organizations running IPv6.
  • Improved content filtering with installable keyword lists that can be used to eliminate email containing profanity in eleven supported languages.
  • Improved integration with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager through new management packs that allow administrators to proactively monitor the state of their Exchange 2007 protection.
  • Increased flexibility for scanning or blocking high compression zip files and RAR archives.

Note: Forefront Security for Exchange users who are running Exchange 2007 RTM and wish to upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP1 must first upgrade to Forefront Security for Exchange SP1.

The MS Exchange Team has posted a few thoughts on Exchange 2007 SP1…

“It certainly has been an exciting couple of months with the UC Launch and hearing a lot of great feedback and excitement from customers and press about the work we’ve done in Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1).  Today we are announcing the release of SP1 to the web for existing Exchange Server 2007 customers and the update of our trial package for customers looking at deploying Exchange Server 2007 for the first time.”
